The Kilmacolm and Port Glasgow Agricultural Society have held an Annual Show almost every year since 1835; the Show has only been cancelled during the wars and on outbreaks of Foot and Mouth Disease. In 2020 and 2021 we held virtual shows with prizes and community awards.
The Kilmacolm and Port Glasgow Annual Show is held at the Knapps, Kilmacolm on the second Saturday of every May. Kilmacolm is approximately 18 miles west of Glasgow, Scotland.
The Society is a registered charity (SC003709) and relies on the generosity of supporters, volunteers and sponsors to fund the show each year.
Watch the cattle, sheep, Clydesdale horses and dogs competing in their rings, see the horses jumping and showing, and visit the Industrial Tent to view the entries in the baking, arts and crafts classes. There is a range of entertainment featuring birds of prey, vintage tractors, milking, a pipe band, sheep shearing and crafters. The new Education Tent will allow you to experience and learn about animals, plants, the countryside and local heritage. There are plenty of trade stands to browse featuring food, drinks, crafts, funfair rides and more.
The Show’s competitors and visitors are of all ages and come from the local area and across the central belt of Scotland and Ayrshire. The majority of our visitors have no links to agriculture.
Our aim is to provide a fantastic day out for the whole family which promotes local agricultural, outdoor sports, animals, arts, crafts & baking, and community spirit. We aim to provide education on agriculture, countryside/livestock awareness, history of the area and the show, farm to plate food journey, and environmental awareness. We also aim to bring trade to the local businesses and the surrounding area.
